International Stem Cell Corporation (ISCC) announced today, via a press release, that Dr. Ruslan Semechkin will present the findings of the company's pre-clinical studies on Parkinson's Disease on March 20th, 2013.
Semechkin is ISCC's Vice President of Research and Development and he will present the results at the 65th American Academy of Neurology Annual Meeting at the San Diego Convention Centre. Purpose of the studies was to test the safety and efficacy of neuronal cells, derived from parthenogenetic stem cells, for the treatment of Parkinson's. The studies were carried on rodent and non-human primate models.
Judging from previous press releases, ISCC seems to be quite optimistic regarding their stem cell-based therapies. Hopefully the findings are positive, paving the way for future, human clinical trials.
